The Interview

Please, tell us your name.
Olamide Kolade.

And your brand name?
Lammiescence Signature.

How long have you been a makeup artist?
12 years.

Your Brand, Your Art

What inspired you to become a Makeup Artist
My love for art inspired me to become a makeup artist because I have always loved creative expression. I started my journey in the makeup industry as a face painter before transitioning into beauty. Seeing someone look in the mirror and instantly feel more confident, softer, bolder, or simply happier did something to me, and that is when I knew this was what I wanted to do.

There is something powerful about an artist who began with pure creativity and never lost that core.

What’s one makeup myth you wish people would stop believing?
I wish people would stop believing that makeup has to be heavy to look good or last long. When makeup is done properly, it can be lightweight, skin-like, long-lasting, and still flawless on and off camera.

Clean technique over product overload. Artists know.

What sets your brand apart from every other MUA out there?
What truly sets my brand apart is that I do not just see makeup as a service, I see it as a confidence-building experience. I am very intentional about how women feel before, during, and after they sit in my chair. My work is rooted in understanding individuality, different faces, different skin, different personalities, and translating that into makeup that feels authentic to them. I am not trying to create a copy-and-paste look. Makeup is not one size fits all. I am focused on helping women show up as the most confident version of themselves, on and off camera.

That distinction matters. Technique transforms faces. Intention transforms presence.

What has been your biggest business win so far?
My biggest business win so far has been building a brand that travels. Being able to take my work beyond Nigeria, working internationally, teaching makeup in different countries, being part of international fashion weeks, global campaigns, and creative spaces, and having clients trust me across borders has been very affirming. Knowing that my skill, professionalism, and brand translate anywhere has been a major milestone for me.

Global trust is not luck. It is consistency meeting preparation.

What’s the one makeup product you could never live without?
Skin prep products, especially the right primer. Proper skin prep makes all the difference in how makeup looks and how long it lasts, especially in humid environments.

Every seasoned artist just nodded.

Industry Insights & Advice

What’s been your biggest lesson as a makeup artist?
My biggest lesson has been understanding that skill alone is not enough. Consistency, professionalism, communication, and how you make people feel matter just as much as the final look. Makeup opens the door, but character, reliability, and strong relationships sustain a long-term career.

Talent gets attention. Character keeps the bookings.

Looking Ahead

Do you have any upcoming projects or plans you’re excited about?
Yes. I am expanding my educational platform through more international makeup classes while continuing to work across global fashion and beauty spaces. I am also looking forward to taking on more bridal bookings and growing my brand’s international presence. It is a season of expansion, and I am genuinely excited about what is ahead.

Expansion season. We see the trajectory.

Anything else you would love to share with the Beautypreneur Hub community?
Stay rooted in purpose and professionalism. Skill will open doors, but consistency, integrity, and how you treat people sustain growth. Build your craft, but also build your character and your systems. There is room for all of us. When you focus on excellence and alignment, the right opportunities will find you. And do not always wait for doors to open. Push them open.

Direct. Practical. Needed.
