Some makeup journeys start with passion. Others start with necessity. Wuraola’s story is both. Her response to our BPH e-interview is honest, grounded, and a reminder that for many artists, beauty is not just about glam. It is about building something out of nothing. Today, she is the face behind BeautyByWura, a brand rooted in intention, precision, and real transformation.
Here is her story, in her own words.
The Interview
Please, tell us your name.
Wuraola.
And your brand name?
BeautyByWura.
How long have you been a makeup artist?
12 years.

Your Brand, Your Art
What inspired you to become an MUA?
“I was inspired to become a makeup artist because I’ve always loved how makeup enhances natural beauty and boosts confidence. Beyond the artistry, I was going through a period of financial struggle, and I needed something that could not only support me but also allow me to express my creativity. Makeup became that opportunity for me.
It started as a passion, but it quickly became a lifeline. Through makeup, I found purpose, financial stability, and the joy of helping people feel beautiful and confident. What began as a struggle turned into a career that transformed my life.”
What’s one makeup myth you wish people would stop believing?
One makeup myth I wish people would stop believing is that more product equals better results. In reality, makeup is about technique, blending, and understanding your skin, not piling on layers. When applied correctly, less product often gives a more flawless, natural, and long-lasting finish.
What sets your brand apart from every other MUA out there?
What sets BeautyByWura apart is the intentionality behind every look. It’s not just about applying makeup, it’s about understanding each client’s face, skin type, and personality to create something uniquely tailored to them.
I focus on flawless skin work, precision, and a luxury finish that still feels natural and wearable. Beyond the glam, I prioritize professionalism, hygiene, and making every client feel comfortable and valued. With BeautyByWura, you don’t just get makeup, you get an experience.
What has been your biggest business win so far?
One of my biggest business wins so far has been turning my passion into a profitable and recognized brand. What started during a challenging financial period has grown into a business that not only sustains me but also impacts others through client transformations and training aspiring makeup artists.
Seeing my class slots fill up, receiving referrals, and having clients trust me with their most important moments has been incredibly rewarding. That growth and trust have been my greatest wins.
What’s the one makeup product you could never live without?
The one makeup product I could never live without is primer. Primer is the foundation before the foundation, it sets the tone for the entire look. It smooths the skin, controls oil, minimizes pores, and helps the makeup last longer.
For me, flawless glam starts with proper skin prep, and primer is a major part of that process. When the base is right, everything else blends beautifully.

Industry Insights & Advice
What’s been your biggest lesson as a makeup artist?
One of my biggest lessons as a makeup artist has been understanding that makeup is not just about skill, it’s about patience, consistency, and people management. Talent can open the door, but professionalism, good communication, and reliability are what keep clients coming back.
I’ve also learned that growth takes time. Every challenge, every mistake, and every small win has shaped me into a better artist and businesswoman.

Do you have any upcoming projects or plans you’re excited about?
Yes! I’m excited about upcoming makeup classes for beginners and pros, plus new creative client projects that will showcase fresh looks and techniques. Can’t wait to share my passion and skills with everyone!
